Turin's creative corner

Vanchiglia borders the university and Via Po to the east, and in recent years has become one of Turin's liveliest and most creative neighbourhoods. Where a quiet working-class quarter once stood, independent cafés, small galleries, bookshops and design studios now shape the scene. Murals and street art cover the house fronts, and students and creatives fill the squares, giving the district a youthful, almost bohemian energy.

Lively after dark

Around Piazza Santa Giulia and the surrounding lanes, bars and small eateries draw a mostly young, local crowd in the evening – more relaxed and less touristy than the Quadrilatero. Vanchiglia is the place to experience Turin's student, alternative side.

Location and getting around

Vanchiglia is just a few minutes' walk from the city centre and the Mole Antonelliana, and pairs well with a stroll along Via Po down to the river.
